The Centre for Econics and Ecosystem Management has existed at the Eberswalde University of Sustainable Development since 2011, where it has become one of the strongest research and transfer units.
On the grounds of systems ecology, the Centre provided impulses on the subject of sustainability in teaching, research and policy as well as practice advice on a national and international level. In doing so, an ecosystem-based and human-centred, i.e. a socio-ecological or eco-humanist approach was pursued and further developed.
Research was concerned, among other things, with ecosystem functions and services under global change. A special focus was on forest ecosystems, their functionality, threats and conservation.
In 2026 we move all activities to our new ECONICS INSTITUTE e.V., where we will further grow our capacities.
