The Centre for Econics and Ecosystem Management has existed at the Eberswalde University of Sustainable Development since 2011, where it has become one of the strongest research and transfer units.

On the grounds of systems ecology, the Centre provides impulses on the subject of sustainability in teaching, research and policy as well as practice advice on a national and international level. In doing so, an ecosystem-based and human-centred, i.e. a socio-ecological or eco-humanist approach is pursued and further developed.

Research is concerned, among other things, with ecosystem functions and services under global change. A special focus is on forest ecosystems, their functionality, threats and conservation.

"Learning from ecological systems for sustainable development"

Our Mission

The application of the understanding of complex systems theory and scaled ecosystem dynamics, to practical problems in sustainable management of ecosystems.
